Clear Vision with Added Convenience

If you wear glasses, you’ve probably thought about what it would be like to spend a day without them. Contact lenses can offer you crisp, clear vision without frames.

There are many reasons why you might want to try contact lenses. They won’t slip down your nose when you go to the gym, you don’t have to worry about them breaking when you play sports, and they won’t fog up during inclement weather.

Contact lenses are convenient. But it’s important to remember that they are a medical device. They must be properly fitted to your eyes by a professional optometrist to protect your eye health.

Whether you want to try contact lenses for the first time or need to update your prescription, book your appointment at Eagle Vision today.

First-Time Fittings

Contact lenses sit on the surface of the cornea, so it’s essential that they fit properly. A professional fit keeps your eyes comfortable and healthy.

Contact lens exams include additional tests that are not always performed in regular eye exams, so be sure to let us know if you are considering contact lenses when you schedule your exam. We will need to book a little extra time during your appointment to assess your eyes and prescribe the right lenses for you.

Our contact lens exams include questions about your lifestyle, habits, and eye health history. We ask these questions to determine which type of contact lens might be the right fit for your needs.

Our Contact Lens Technology

We pride ourselves on a precise contact lens fit to help you achieve optimal comfort. We have invested in technology that helps us provide you with a better lens fitting experience.

Beyond our standard contact lens options, including soft and rigid gas-permeable lenses, we also fit specialty contact lenses for superior comfort for individuals with conditions such as dry eye disease or keratoconus, as well as people with more complex prescriptions or astigmatism

Both standard and specialty contact lenses are fitted using our contact lens technology, which helps us map the shape of your eye for a comfortable fit and crisp vision.

Anterior segment imaging is a type of optical coherence tomography (OCT) that uses light waves to map the front portion of the eye, including the eyelids, conjunctiva (white of the eye), cornea, and iris.

These images allow us to provide a precise lens fit, particularly when dealing with specialty contact lenses.

Corneal topography is a computerized test that creates a 3D image of the corneal surface, on the front of your eye, letting us assess how the eye and the lens will work together.

The more we know about your cornea and its shape, the better fit you get.

Types of Contact Lenses

We can prescribe many different types of contact lenses to help you find a comfortable fit with clear and precise vision. We’ll discuss our options with you during your appointment and make recommendations based on your lifestyle, eye health and shape, and how frequently you want to wear contacts.

For example, if you are interested in trying contact lenses occasionally, such as for special events, fitness classes or workouts, or just to vary your style from day to day, we may recommend soft daily disposable contacts. However, if you plan to wear your contact lenses every day or need a multifocal prescription, we’ll recommend lenses tailored to those specifications.

Here are just a few of the lens types we have to offer:

Soft contacts are the most common type of contact lens. They are affordable, and most people can tolerate them well. They can correct a variety of refractive errors, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia.

These lenses come in daily disposable varieties, but there are monthly disposable or extended wear options too.

Some patients prefer the sturdiness of older-style hard contact lenses. Nowadays, you can get that feeling with rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses. RGP lenses are made of a slightly flexible plastic that allows oxygen to pass through to the eye during wear.

While they may take a little longer to get used to, RGP lenses keep their shape when you blink. This gives more precise vision than soft contacts, which may move around when you blink.

RGP lenses are durable and can last for a year or more if cared for properly. The lenses are typically removed each night for cleaning and disinfecting.

People with astigmatism can benefit from lenses that are designed to work with their irregularly shaped corneas.

Toric lenses have a special design shaped like a slice of a donut. This design creates different focusing powers to correct for astigmatism. The lenses include special features that keep the lens at just the right place on the eye, allowing for clear vision.

For more about the toric lens options we carry, see our Specialty Contact Lenses page.

Multifocal contact lenses are a convenient alternative to bifocal or multifocal glasses. They offer vision correction at various distances, so you can see clearly both near and far without reading glasses.

Multifocal contact lenses are especially useful for people with presbyopia, or age-related farsightedness, which typically develops after age 40.

Children with myopia (nearsightedness) can benefit from specialty contact lenses designed to slow myopia progression as their eyes continue to grow and develop.

If your child is nearsighted, we may recommend MiSight Contact Lenses to correct their vision and manage their myopia.

We offer a variety of specialty lenses, including options for people with astigmatism, dry eye, and keratoconus. Take a look at our Specialty Contact Lenses Page to learn more.
